| 内容記述 | Social media has made it possible for trends to be disseminated at previously unknown speeds and over vast distances. This is particularly true of written language, and researchers are taking advantage of this technology to describe novel language practices within particular social groups. This article will describe an aspect of the written language used by the Japanese model, Chisato Yoshiki, in her online presence, and analyse how it is taken up and reinterpreted by her fans and other members of the public through tweets, photos, and print club images. This presents an interesting case study of how language practices flow back and forth between different agents on social media, and leads to discussions of how such practices can serve as a lens with which to view imitation, (re)interpretation, and group membership via marked writing practices. This negotiation of meaning occurs online and thus within the public sphere, and is therefore illustrative of a social-semiotic understanding of meaning making. | |||||||||
